Leadership profile

My leadership focus is to create the conditions in which skilled people can do their best work. I set clear direction, remove barriers, challenge constructively and connect engineering decisions to the outcomes that matter to users and the organisation.

I have modernised teams, introduced stronger engineering and operational practices, developed technical leaders and addressed underperformance and conflict when required. I approach change through direct engagement, listening carefully to the pressures teams face and showing how better ways of working can reduce friction, duplication and risk.

My technical background spans software development, DevOps, cloud, infrastructure, information security, data and digital platforms. I no longer need to be the person writing every line of code, but I retain the breadth and judgement to question assumptions, identify cross-platform opportunities and support specialists in making sound technical decisions.

Outside work, I volunteer as lifeboat crew with the RNLI. My service in the RAF and British Army, together with operational volunteering, has shaped a calm, accountable and people-centred leadership style.

Professional mission

To build technology organisations that combine strong engineering discipline with empathy, commercial judgement and a clear sense of purpose.

I am motivated by complex environments where services matter, expectations are high and meaningful improvement requires people, process and technology to move together. My aim is always to leave teams stronger, services safer and organisations better equipped to deliver lasting value.
